CDL-A Shuttle Truck Driver

Truck Driver, Class A CDL - Hammond
Overview
Delivery representative drives bobtail and/or tractor trailer, sometimes long distances, over predetermined routes to transport packaged food and related products.?? This position is a manual handling, labor intensive job loading and unloading products from vehicle onto customer's premises.?? Considerable strength and endurance is required to safely and successfully perform this job due to??the weight of merchandise and frequency??it is handled.?? Operates company vehicle in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
Applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways.?? Inspects truck for condition. Maintains driver log according to DOT regulations.?? May assist workers in loading vehicle.?? Unloads products from vehicle upon reaching destination.?? Cleans inside of truck or trailer.?? May direct driver helper, if assigned one, to load or unload truck and carry merchandise.?? Interacts with customers on daily basis while making deliveries to places of business.?? Includes collection of money from customers, recording transactions, credits for returned products, listening to,??resolving and reporting??service or delivery complaints or problems to supervisor.
Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Class A CDL operator's license and good driving record required

  • Ability to read and comprehend computer printouts and write legibly

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent

  • Complete DOT acceptable application for employment

  • Successfully complete DOT required road test, DOT drug screen, and physical

  • General knowledge of highways and locations in LA, TX, MS, and surrounding states where deliveries may be scheduled

  • Ability to take direction and comprehend instructions

  • Know and obey traffic regulations; be safe and conscientious driver

  • Ability to drive bobtail and/or tractor-trailer

  • Good communication skills needed for interactions with customers in making deliveries

  • Able to lift up to 80 lb

  • Able to tolerate cold temperatures

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
